Trail Conditions, Eagle Lake, Northern Aroostook County

01/01/10  Happy New Year to all!  All the trails we rode were in great shape. Lots of grooming and low traffic this week has left us with wide, flat, fast trails. With more snow expected every day for the next three to four days, it can only get better. Eagle Lake has revised the 85N trail again this year. We are back to a route similar to the layout 3 years ago. Very nice mix of tight woods and open roads. The town has also purchased a new groomer, a real groomer, and we now have some folks that actually ride snowmobiles running the groomer. The difference is already noticed, and we all thank the people that worked to get these trails opened up. Enjoy the season, and from all of us at Fiddleheads, Ride safe, be considerate, and have fun.

01/02/09 Trails still ok. Getting a bit worn, but the traffic has picked up considerably in the past few days. It looks like 73A, the connector between ITS85 and Soldier Pond is re-routed down Route 11 a short distance to a different trail entrance.

01/15/09 All the trails we have been on are in excellent condition. Eagle Lake has some of the better groomed trails in this area. Good job guys. The traffic seems low, which is probably why the trails are all in good condition. We did head up to the Deboulle area Sunday. Some of 120 is groomed, some plowed roads, and packed trail. Still very passable, and it appears the St Francis end is groomed. Probably should look out for truck traffic on that plowed section.
